Cleaning and maintenance
How to keep your Ponzio aluminium window and doors and products at their best

Cleaning
To ensure that your window and doors work properly and are long-lasting, they require simple annual maintenance. Cleaning aluminium window and doors is very simple: just wipe with a sponge or soft cloth dampened with suitable detergent. The detergent must be:
NEUTRAL
NON ABRASIVE
AMMONIA-FREE
CHLORINE-FREE (BLEACH)
We advise cleaning aluminium surfaces when they are not exposed to direct heat sources, such as sunlight, using only water no hotter than 30°.
Make sure there are no foreign objects in the guides and crevices of the fixture. Any excess dust and dirt must be removed with a vacuum cleaner. The mechanical parts, however, must be cleaned with a silicone or Teflon spray.
Good lubrication
INSPECT GUIDES AND CRACKS
Inspect the guides and any cracks in the window or door casing at least once a year
REMOVE DUST AND DIRT
Remove built-up dirt and dust.
LUBRICATE MOVING ACCESSORIES
Lubricate mobile accessories (anuba hinges, latches, hinges and handles) at least once a year with a Vaseline-based lubricant spray or anti-acid grease
If the opening/closing movements of the window or door are not smooth or difficult despite lubrication, contact qualified personnel to check the condition of the hardware.

Indispensable Ventilation
The great performance of Ponzio windows and doors is achieved through the use of sophisticated technologies, which allow for more comfortable living environments both thermally and acoustically. A well-sealed environment, however, can be prone to the accumulation of odors and vapors that generate mold and condensation.
OPENING THICKLY
Open the window frequently to allow air exchange and improve air quality
CONSTANT TEMPERATURE
Always maintain a constant temperature of 20/21 °C
DURING THE COLD SEASON
Open the window for short periods (3-5 minutes) at least 3-4 times a day, preferably during the hottest hours avoiding times when the heating is on
The Care of Seals
Gaskets between the sash and frame prevent drafts and ensure a tight seal, thereby increasing the thermal insulation of the entire window frame. Residues and impurities can creep into the operation, reducing drainage and ventilation, and, over time, gaskets can become loose-fitting.
CHECK
THE POSITION
Regularly check that they are in their proper place
CLEANING
Provide for their cleaning by vacuuming
REINVIGORATE
Once a year with silicone spray
REPOSITION THE GASKETS
Replace the gaskets in their seats.

For Correct Use
Periodic maintenance of the window and door frame preserves its functional characteristics and essential safety requirements, allowing it to last longer and perform better. Aluminum itself is a very durable material, and only a few general precautions are needed to care for the window frame.
